Blogmas Day 15: Christmas Drinks.

Typically Christmas is a boozy time of year, so what better time to experiment with some tasty drinks. I've come up with two for you to try. One alcoholic and one non alcoholic. Alternatively you could switch them up and take the gin out of the Frosted Lime Twist and you could add red wine to the Mulled 'Wine'.  Now one thing before we get started, these recipes aren't science, the measurements are rough estimates and based on my personal preferences. So bare that in mind and make sure to taste test as you go!

 Frosted Lime Twist.

You Will Need:
This will make one cocktail depending on size of glass.

  • 3-5 Teaspoons of Gin
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Syrup
  • 1-2 Teaspoons Frosted Mint Syrup (or just regular mint syrup)
  • 1 Fresh Lime
  • Tonic Water
  • Crushed Ice

Instructions:

  1. Fill half of your glass with crushed ice.
  2. Squeeze the juice of the lime into the glass, you can also add the 'pulp' if you wish.
  3. Add in the gin, both syrups and then top glass up with tonic water.
  4. Stir and serve. You could garnish with mint leaves and/or extra lime.
  5. Enjoy.

Non Alcoholic Mulled 'Wine'.

You Will Need:

  • Orange Juice
  • Winter Spiced Ribena ( But if you don't have that just plain blackcurrant/blackcurrant & apple squash works too!)
  • Cinnamon Stick
  • 1 Orange
  • Cloves
The measurements can be decided by you as there is no alcohol involved it really doesn't matter.  I'd recommend adding more orange juice than squash though as it can be quite sweet. Equally you can also add in red wine to turn alcoholic if you wish.

Instructions:
  1. Stick cloves evenly into an orange.
  2. Put everything into a saucepan and simmer on low heat for 5-10 minutes. The longer you heat it for the more flavour from the orange and cloves you'll get, if you choose longer just make sure to keep stirring.
  3. Pour into cups and enjoy!
